Cheers to Puppeteers continues as we chat with Muppet performer Matt Vogel. You know Matt for his starring role as Constantine in the 2014 film Muppets Most Wanted and for performing several legacy Sesame Street and Muppet characters, including Big Bird, Count von Count, Uncle Deadly, Floyd Pepper, and Kermit the Frog. He has a new podcast called Below the Frame where he interviews puppeteers and others in the Muppet Universe.
Tune in as Matt shares his journey - from an early love of The Muppet Show, getting to Sesame Street to understudy Caroll Spinney as Big Bird, and eventually getting cast as Kermit in 2017. We also discuss the importance of a puppeteer's acting background, how he approaches directing puppets for television, and his process of taking on an established character. PLUS: we'll learn about some of Jerry Nelson's favorite video games.
